2005 PSSC Annual Banquet

The hotel has approximately 100 different varieties
of palm trees and 1,000 different varieties of plants.
The Tipuana Tipu is the true rosewood from Brazil.
The Crown of Christ Palm
is found in Argentina and Bolivia. Their Cycads are a South Pacific variety. The Trachycarpus fortuneis are found in the Tibetan highlands
of China. Among the palm tree collection are Butias, blue Brahea armatas, Dypsis decaryis, Jubaeas,
Sabal causiarums and Pritchardias, the only palms native to Hawaii.
Their bamboo collection includes Green Stripe, Heavenly Bamboo, Buddha's Belly Bamboo, Agave, Attenuloda, Punias, and Running Bamboo. Some of the other rare plants
include a Tapioca Tree, many bromeliads as well as thirty different flower types of hibiscus.
With fresh ocean breeze and exotic ambience, the Catamaran Resort is a plant enthusiast’s paradise and an ideal setting for our 2005 Banquet. This year the
banquet fee is $42.00 and that includes a sumptuous buffet lunch and parking. Our invited guest speaker is Paul Craft, current president of
the International Palm Society, who will be giving a presentation on Palms of the Caribbean and will also
give a sneak peak on 2006 IPS Biennial in the Dominican Republic. To make this event a weekend getaway,
mention PSSC to receive discount for hotel stay.
The Banquet will start at 12:00 noon in the Toucan and Macaw Banquet Room of the Catamaran Resort. Mini bar with a bartender will be available at 11:20 a.m. If you wish to view the gardens of the Hotel on a self guided tour, we recommend doing so before the start of the Banquet. Our guest speaker, Paul Craft (current president of the IPS), will be giving a presentation shortly after lunch and then auction shall follow.
