Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens
Let’s start the New Year off with our annual banquet. The Huntington Botanical Gardens (HBG) has opened its new glass domed conservatory since our last visit. At 12:00 noon BBQ chicken, tri tip, green salad, fruit salad, dessert, soda and water will be served. Limited seating luncheon tickets will be $37 if purchased before January 18, 2007. Banquet tickets after that date or at the door will be $50.
RSVP to Bud and Jo Zager by telephone (714) 870-0114 or email, palmloverbud@yahoo.com, make sure to leave your phone number, and then pay at the door. Without a reservation, the banquet will cost $50.00/person due to catering commitments.
Don Hodel will be the key note presenter on Pritchardias, a project which private PSSC donors and the IPS have assisted in funding. Don’s presentation will be followed by a travel log presented by Jack and Lindsay Sayer. A great auction and raffle is planned following the presentations. Please support this great society by participating in the plant auction and buying many raffle tickets.
As the Garden is large and always full of new surprises, you are encouraged to arrive anytime from 10 am for morning self-guided tours. Admission and parking is free to PSSC members but you must identify yourself as a PSSC member at both guard stations. First guard post is at the entry from Allen Dr., and the second post is near the main
building entrance adjacent to the parking, (Guard Post 17). The guard will point you in the direction of the Ahmanson Classroom in the Botanical Center for the banquet.
