In Memory of
Gunther Schwarx

     The May meeting of the Palm Society of Southern California will take place at the Gunther Schwarz family garden in Santa Barbara on Saturday May 19, 2007. Gunther’s widow, Jennifer, said that Gunther would have been pleased by our return visit to his garden.

 

     The garden is known for the most varied palm collection in Santa Barabara and the outstanding succulent planting. Gunther devoted 25 years creating the garden on a three acre site.

 

 

Schedule:
     11:00 – 12:00 self guided tour of the garden
     12:00 – 1:00   potlock lunch and socializing
     1:00 – 1:30     meeting and lecture on Gunther’s Garden
     1:30                begin auction and raffle

 

 

 

Directions:
50 El Cielito Road

From the south: 101 Freeway to Santa Barbara, exit at Mission off ramp, right (east) on Mission, left on Laguna, go past the Mission Santa Barbara. Laguna becomes Mission Canyon Road, continue on to Foothill (Hwy 192). Right on Foothill, Foothill becomes Mountain. Turn right on Misson Ridge, left on Stanwood (at the fire station). Turn left on El Cielito Road to 50 El Cielito Road.

 

Please park on the street (unless unloading plants for the auction) and walk down the long driveway. The Schwarz family phone number is 805-966-0748.
